Motivate Your Students!

I've decided to have my students use this web site: Auto Motivator to create motivational posters. We are going to take pictures of students in different locations through out the school such as the lunch room, hallway, bathroom, bus, playground etc. Then we will write down some basic rules that need to be followed in each of these places. We will then put the posters into a slide show. I made two quick examples of posters with my own images just to try out the site. You do not need to register and the process was very easy. The image can be downloaded right to your computer. I love it when I find easy Web 2.0 tools like this one. I'll post the slide show when we have it all finished!

I'm sure there are many other uses for this tool. Pictures of students with a quote from them on a current event or issue would be neat. The principal or teacher giving some positive reinforcement, or how about encouraging words from parents written on a poster with the parent's picture on it. Share your ideas if you have any!

I also had this picture from when we stayed on the ocean in Texas and I thought it made a great poster to motivate others with positive life thoughts!

"Where Did You Go Over the Summer?" in December!

I'm so frustrated. Last year I found out we would be going 1 to 1 computers in our 5th grade classroom. Here it is the 2nd week of school and I have yet to see our computers in our classroom. They are in our district, but they have not been imaged and set up for student use. Our district decided to switch over to Google for Education the last two weeks of August. So not only do we not have our laptops for our students, but every computer in every lab is not usable. I have so many ideas ready to use with the students, and all of my ideas for the beginning of the school year are just going out the window. Will I be doing "Where did you go over the summer?" with Google Earth in December? Will I be making "Introduce Yourself" Glogs in January? How about starting up a blog in February? I can't stand the waiting anymore!

I Didn't Know I Could Do That!

Did you know that a lot of game sites will let you share their games on Blogger, Facebook, Twitter, Delicious and tons of other places? I shared two games that I played. One off of this site: Primary Games and another off of this site: Mr. Nussbaum Check the two posts below to see these games.

All you need to do is look for the share button and then click on the place you want to share. I plan to have my students share games they enjoy playing on their blogs. Other students will then see which games their friends like. This is a great way to get kids excited about playing educational games!
